The GlucoCare™ Intensive Glycemic Control System—insulin dose calculation software developed and marketed by Pronia Medical Systems, LLC—received FDA 510(k) clearance in August 2008. The GlucoCare™ IGC System implements an insulin infusion protocol intended for the treatment of hyperglycemia (high blood sugars) in the hospital setting. Hyperglycemia is a common and costly health care problem occuring in critically ill patients with and without a known history of diabetes.
