Playtxt was a location based mobile social network enabling users initially to SMS their location, to receive back who was nearby and venues which were busy. It also enable messaging between users without revealing your mobile number. Later a WAP version was build offering cross-platform IM and a host of other features, followed by a J2ME mobile application which included maps, searches, profiles and further enhanced functionality.Playtxt operated from late 2001 thru end 2006.
