The rules impose strict boundaries: banning addiction mechanics, requiring explicit risk warnings, and guaranteeing user opt-out rights. For minors, the framework strictly prohibits virtual relatives and romantic partners.
The crackdown forced immediate adjustments across software and hardware teams. Domestic AI platforms like Doubao and Tongyi Qianwen suspended custom user-created agents on July 15, following similar moves by Tencent Yuanbao on June 30. As physical machines adopt human forms to forge emotional ties, regulators no longer view them as consumer novelties, but as specialized psychological tools requiring strict oversight.
Technical Bottlenecks Behind the Bionic Exterior
Beyond compliance mandates, fundamental engineering limits threaten to undercut the narrative pushed by robotics vendors.
