BEIJING, January 8 (TMTPOST) -- TikTok has set an ambitious target to expand its TikTok Shop U.S. business, aiming for a tenfold increase to reach $17.5 billion in 2024.
This goal is set to position TikTok not only to compete with Amazon but also to challenge Chinese-owned peers like Temu and Shein, which have gained popularity in the United States.
To fuel the growth, TikTok plans to raise its commission rates on most items to 8% per transaction from the current 2%. Additionally, TikTok Shop is scaling back some subsidies for merchants. Even with this adjustment, TikTok's commissions remain significantly lower than Amazon's seller fees, which typically hover around 15% for most product categories.
