BEIJING, July 23 (TMTPOST)— Tesla’s electric vehicle (EV) was “below average quality” among brands in China’s EV market, according to J.D. Power 2021 China New Energy Vehicle Initial Quality Study which was conducted on 3,976 vehicle owners from 53 cities in mainland China who had bought their cars between September 2020 and March 2021. The study showed the best models of all the EV segments were awarded to Tesla’s Chinese rivals. NIO’s ES6 SUV was the best quality luxury battery EV and Xpeng’s G3 SUV topped ranking of compact battery EV segment. Li Auto’s ONE was the leading ideal model in hybrid EV chart, while in midsize battery EV segment, Buffet-backed BYD’s Han ranked first, followed by Xpeng’s P7, and Tesla’s Model 3 took the third place.
