BEIJING, June 18 (TMTPOST) — BMW has announced that it will build up an EV battery recycle management system in China by deepening its partnership with professional battery logistics and recycling partners in the country.
The recycling process starts from the car dealers by collecting high voltage batteries, which will then be transported by logistics service providers to qualified centers for evaluation. The centers will determine whether the batteries will be used for power storage again or be installed on the forklifts in factories in Shenyang. The batteries might also be dismantled by professional service providers and their raw materials will be recycled.
BMW Brilliance Automotive has developed a source-tracing management platform for the batteries in response to the potential problems that might arise from the recycling process. Information of batteries from made-in-China and imported EVs will be uploaded to this platform, which allows the tracking of the lifetime use of the batteries. The platform will also be connected to the authority’s system.
