BEIJING, May 10th (TMTPOST) — Beijing Municipal Bureau of Radio and Television has banned Chinese variety shows from providing paid votes for the audience to vote for favorites on the show, according to a recent notice from the Bureau. The recent controversy surrounding talent shows was sparked by the milkgate scandal of iQIYI's Youth With You Season 3, in which crazed fans ordered large amounts of dairy products and wasted them for votes to support their idols. The Bureau of Radio and Television has now officially banned TV shows from encouraging viewers to use monetary means to support contestants on talent shows.
