BEIJING, May 4 (TMTPOST)— The Biden administration is mulling revising the criteria for identifying Chinese firms linked to the country’s military, suggesting changing the banning order signed by the former U.S. president Donald Trump, the Politico cited remarks from Joseph Borson, a lawyer on behalf of the U.S. Justice Department in court on Monday.
Borson revealed the department is considering options to address the legal problem raised by the abovementioned order.
The report noted the government lawyers said in a late April’s filing that the department has decided not to seek appeal Xiaomi’s exemption from the ban that forbids American individuals from purchasing or otherwise possessing the Chinese mobile maker’s securities.
