BEIJING, January 26 (TMTPOST)— Blackberry, former smart phone pioneer, announced an expansion of its strategic partnership with Chinese internet giant Baidu, built on the company’s 2018 agreement to make its operating system the foundation for Baidu’s autonomous driving open platform Apollo.
The latest partnership will allow Baidu’s high-definition maps to run on Blackberry’s QNX Neutrino Real-time Operating System (RTOS) and be applied in GAC New Energy Aion, the forthcoming mass production model made by electric vehicle unit of GAC Motor, one of China’s largest automobile manufactures.
BlackBerry QNX technology is used in more than 175 million vehicles on the road in their advanced driver assistance (ADAS), digital instrument clusters, connectivity modules, hands-free, and infotainment systems.
