BEIJING, January 21 (TMTPOST) — Smartphone brand One Plus's R&D team has merged with that of OPPO. Currently, new recruits of One Plus's R&D team all receive offers from OPPO instead of One Plus.
The R&D teams of One Plus and OPPO had already merged in December 2020. The merged team now reports to BBK Electronics, who owns both OPPO and One Plus. Though One Plus and OPPO's R&D teams have merged, One Plus phones and OPPO phones will still be using their own UI, similar to that of Xiaomi and Redmi.
There were already rumors last June that OPPO and One Plus will merge their R&D teams. This means that the two smartphone brands will have closer connection.
