BEIJING, January 19 (TMTPOST)— Chinese electric vehicle startup WM Motor held an event for mass production of its third smart full-electric SUV W6, as well as the first electric car co-developed by the company and its investor Baidu. The model came off the production line on Monday.
As the first vehicle empowered by Baidu’s Cloud AVP (automated valet parking) in the world, W6 enables users to fulfill many tasks such as self-driving without human intervention, obstacle detection and avoiding, intelligent searching for parking lots and autonomous car park with just “one-click” through their smart phone. It is set to be officially launched in this year’s annual motor show Auto Shanghai in April.
Helped with computing power Apollo, Baidu’s autonomous vehicle technology platform, W6 features self-driving in the most frequently used parking lots, according to WM Motor’s chairman and CEO Freeman Shen. The company expects to start electric sedan strategy in the second half of year.
