BEIJING, January 13 (TMTPOST)— Chinese premium full-electric vehicle project IM released two mass-produced models with wi-fi charging on Wednesday in Shanghai, London and Las Vegas’ CES 2021 event, including a B-segment car and a SUV. The worldwide debut came less than three weeks after the venture funded by Alibaba, China’s biggest carmaker SAIC Motor and Shanghai Zhangjiang Hello-Tech Park Improvement, a funding arm of town authorities, incorporated on December 25.
With driving range of 400 km and a high torque of 700 N•m, IM’s models can accelerate from 0 to 100 kph in 3.9 seconds. The IM sedan will pack an 11 kW wireless charging system and a new solid-state battery first using the so-called “silicon-doped lithium supplement battery cell" technology. The battery, developed by SAIC and China’s largest battery maker CATL, has a single energy density of 300Wh/kg and is expected to enable a maximum range over 1,000 km on a charge.
IM expects to start mass production and delivery in the fourth quarter. IM sedan will be available for preorder in April in the annual motor show Auto Shanghai and go on sale in late 2021. IM SUV will hit the market in 2022.
