BEIJING, February 22 (TMTPOST) — British truck service provider Trailar is considering suing former U.S. President Donald Trump for intellectual property infringement as his social media application logo looks overly similar to Trailar’s logo.

Trump recently released its social media application named Truth Social, which he promotes as a social media platform that actually protects freedom of speech. Truth Social was launched as an effort to circumvent popular social media platforms such as Twitter and Facebook. The application was developed by Trump Media & Technology Group, a startup company created by Trump last year.

Truth Social is America's "Big Tent" social media platform that encourages an open, free, and honest global conversation without discriminating against political ideology, according to its official site.

Truth Social topped the chart of the most downloaded apps in U.S. App Store on Monday, surpassing popular social media platforms such as TikTok and Instagram.

Trump launched Truth Social to take back his social media presence ahead of a possible 2024 presidential campaign. Twitter had permanently banned Trump in January 2021, citing concerns over risks of incitement of violence. Meta had also suspended Trump’s Facebook and Instagram accounts for two years after the U.S. Capital Riots took place. Facebook said Trump’s action on its platform were “a severe violation of our rules”. Trump has since been firing back at tech groups for censoring him and “violating freedom of speech”.

British trucking company Trailar might take legal action against Truth Social as its logo looks strikingly similar to Trailar’s, the company’s head of marketing Matthew Summers told Business Insider on Tuesday.

Comparing the two logos, the only two differences that users could notice at first glance are the two logos’ background colors and the presence of a small green block.

“Great to see Donald Trump supporting a growing sustainability business! Maybe ask next time?” Trailar said on its Twitter page, retweeting a comparison of Trailar and Truth Social’s logos.
