BEIJING, September 22 (TMTPOST)— Xiaomi’s camera-featured phone lineup of seems to be reborn with a new brand. The Chinese leading smartphone maker announced on Tuesday that it would release new product under the brand Xiaomi Civi at 2:00 p.m. Beijing time (6:00 a.m. GMT) on September 27. The new model boasts fashionable and diversified designs and runs with innovative video recording and camera shooting technologies, making it very similar to CC, an old brand with the same selling points including trendy designs and world-class cameras.

In June 2019, Xiaomi unveiled CC brand that stands for camera+camera, a dual-camera setup. According to Xiaomi, and also refers to a variety of meanings including chic, cool, colorful and creative CC series are designed to be a flagship for photography and selfies with both front and back cameras, aiming at the global young generation with its trendy design and camera features. Five months later, Xiaomi launched CC9 Pro, the world’s premium smartphone with first 100 million pixel lens, and was ranked the top in DXOMARK’s mobile image evaluation, but the company didn’t rolled out any new model after that.

Xiaomi didn’t reveal more details about Civi. Wei Siqi, the product manager for CC brand, recently said Civi was CC’s follow-up and a rebirth of the previous brand with comprehensive evolution. At first sight, you may not recognize it belongs to Xiaomi it since it is designed with totally different the way as before and doesn’t look like the Xiaomi phone you are familiar to, Wei added.

It is said that the upcoming Civi series include a regular model that would be packed with Snapdragon 778G 5G chip and 120Hz screen and a Pro model with more powerful processor Snapdragon 870. Both of them could have the rear cover backed by photochromic or electrochromic technology. With the former technology, the cover can change color depending on how the sunlight hit, while the latter enables the color change if a certain amount of voltage is pushed through the electrochromic glass.
