With the grand opening of IFA 2019 last week, the global event has brought back the heatwave of innovation in consumer electronics to the city of Berlin since last September.

Same as IFA 2018, the Hall 25-26 became a hub for global startups again with the format of IFA NEXT 2019, to gain the innovative products and solutions a breakthrough, as well as showcasing to the global visitors what the future of technology could look like. If you didn't manage to visit them onsite, here is a bite of it.

Magpie laser distance measurer

If you have ever experienced the complexity of measuring your room simply for placing a painting on the wall, you will understand the necessity for an easier solution than tape measuring. This is where Magpie VH-80 comes into play with a bilateral laser distance measurer.

The IoT device enables the measurement of bilateral distance and calculation of multiple values including area, volume and Pythagorean Theorem at the same time wherever you position yourself, which significantly reduces the safety risk and time consumed for movements. The cloud services also support the real-time data sharing, which could be widely used for construction, real estate and interior design.

Ambi Climate smart air conditioner controller

Have you ever had one of those days when you simply cannot live without an air conditioner (AC), but less humidity in a closed room bothers you on the other hand?  We have always been long for a more comfortable environment indoor. And the AI algorithm equipped AC controller Ambi Climate, has just gone one step further than the traditional monitor to meet the needs.

It learns many more factors than just temperature, like indoor humidity, changing weather, sunlight in the room, and the daytime to find the optimal comfort mix to the users. Through the voice control, the algorithm is also taking human reaction into consideration to continuously adjust to personal needs. And in the end, the AC will be controlled via infrared commands from Ambi Climate directly.

When remote-working continues to be a trend, the solutions for facilitating decentralised collaboration is also evolving at its full speed. Dropbox, Slack, Zoom and Asana are all playing important roles implanted in our daily working routine, and Klaxoon meeting management suite might become one of them in the near future.

The app suite is designed for various formats of instant group communication and knowledge sharing, including meeting, brainstorming, voting, team challenge, quiz, survey and many more. The team could participate, vote, react and brainstorm in real-time through different devices like phone, tablet, or computer with higher level of engagement wherever they are.

Luminette light therapy glasses

As a big fun of optical technology, following the Aurai eye massager that I introduced from last IFA, the new exhibitor Luminette light therapy glasses drew my great attention this year.

Fighting winter blue and sleeping problems has been long a topic especially in northern Europe, and this clinically proven wearable product is aiming to provide an ideal treatment targeting exactly the topic. It is claimed that taking this light therapy for 20-45 minutes could boost energy for 4-5 days. And most important of all, since the beam of the light is angled top-down, it doesn't block the user's vision at all to allow multitasking during the therapy.

Mimi audio personalisation

You might have never noticed that everyone's hearing is individual and unique, but it is scientifically true, as some of us might hear the voiceover more clearly while the others could identify the background music with ease, when watching a TV advertisement for example.

Based on intensive science researches, Mimi develops a bio-algorithm to process different audio signals in real-time to enable inner ear to transmit more information to the brain based on individual hearing ability. With your personalised Hearing ID that generated from Mimi certified hearing test, it could be adapted to all Mimi integrated audio devices, such as a headset, TV, mobile phone etc. to personalise your every hearing expereince.
