TMTPost has taken one step further in the internationalization journey. On January 13th (Beijing time), TMTPost official set up the East U.S Center in Boston.
TMTPost’s East U.S Center is jointly established by TMTPost, BAC (Boston Angel Club), and renowned Boston-based incubator Canopy City.
Before that, TMTPost had already had journalists stationed in the Silicon Valley, but didn’t have a base in the U.S. This establishment of the East U.S Center signals TMTPost’s official entry into the U.S. But why chose Boston instead of the Silicon Valley? According to TMTPost’s founder Zhao Hejuan, the decision is attributed to the fact that East U.S boasts the country’s most important and biggest innovation resources, which are the hundreds of top universities and groups of industrial research centers. The surging capital scene and the maturing innovation applications have brought changes to the Silicon Valley. Innovation resources are in fact going back to the east side of the country where fundamental research scene is hot. Keeping hold of the future and believing in technology can bring about revolutionary changes have always been TMTPost’s spirit, and when we want to do something, we want to do it in ways that have never been adopted before.
BAC was established by MIT’s Sloan Fellow Zhou Xiongwei, big data expert Peter Zhu, and Boston-based accomplished entrepreneur Jimmey Chen in 2014. The investors at BAC are moslt famous entrepreneurs in China and the U.S, including Edward Roberts, professor/investor at MIT and founder of Martin Trust Center for MIT Entrepreneurship, etc. Backed by world-class universities such as MIT and Harvard University, BAC focuses on angel investment in the tech industry, tech project incubation, international investment and acquisition and merger. BAC’s fields include but not limited to: TMT, new energy, new material, biotech, big data analysis, AI etc.
TMTPost and BAC’s cooperation couldn’t have happened without the common value on technology and strategic goal. Zhao Hejuan has been researching in the U.S for over a year and has done thorough research and analysis of the financial environment, technological development and innovation resource and capital layout. “The Silicon Valley is actually falling abit in innovation. If the fundemantal research in the east U.S couldn’t catch up with the pace, the Silicon Valley would be having great difficulty finding a breakthrough in innovation application.”
The core reason that drove TMTPost to pick Boston for the East U.S Center is that the region is home to world leading universities such as MIT, which ranks the top one in the tech realm, Yale University, and Harvard University. These top universities have also set up their own innovation and entrepreneurship centers. They are also opening to the China. TMTPost is discussing cooperation plans with these prestigious universities.
Aside from being an education and technology hub, Boston is also close to New York, the big apple that’s transforming from a financial center to a financial technolgy and creativity center.
According to Bloomberg’s innovation assessment chart released in January 2016, Massachusetts state, where Boston sits in, has surpassed California and become the top state in the U.S in innovation. The assessment indicators include: R&D, production capacity, the density of high tech companies
TMTPost is also hoping to lead investors, innovation leaders in China into the East U.S, helping to better connect businesses with the capital. In this communication process of technological innovation, TMTPost is also hoping to help Chinese entrepreneurs better understand the leading technologies going on in the world.
TMTPost has launched TMTPost Pro project and will integrate the latest and detailed information on technological achievements from East U.S. TMTPost Pro will regularly push exclusive content, project data and products (technology IP) etc. to the subscribers. Besides that, TMTPost will also host online and offline discussion session to get deeper into leading technologies. (Click to subscribe to TMTPost Pro, which will come online on January 18th)
TMTPost will also set up West U.S Center in the near future and the center will likely to base in San Francisco or the Silicon Valley.
The results of the dialogues and communications will be presented in TMTPost’s T-EDGE activities in 2017. T-EDGE is not merely just another tech conference, it offers something more and has its own special features. TMTPost sets to discover truly cutting-edge, innovative leaders, teams, and sectors that lead the trends, and dedicates to building a innovation platform with international influence that connects China and overseas.
In recent months TMTPost has been making strategic moves. In December 2016, TMTPost launched TMTPost Pro, announcing to divide its current business structure into three parts.
“During the first three years of my entrepreneurial journey I had been focusing on how to make good content and surviving. In the fourth year, the year of 2016, I had my revelation. I underwent the transition from a content maker to a business runner,” TMTPost’s CEO and founder Zhao Hejuan said jokingly. “Now I look at and think about the new media industry and TMTPost’s future in a grander and higher perspective, reflecting on the future development, the company’s operation and my team.”
This year will be a brand new start for TMTPost. We look forward to continuing this journey with our users.
